Jo's Best Cinnamon Roll Glaze

1 cup confectioners' sugar, sifted

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

2 tablespoons whole milk

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

pinch of salt

Add in a few blueberries or raspberries for a wonderful coloured glaze!

Whisk together butter, milk, and vanilla, and stir into sugar until mixture forms a smooth paste. Keep glaze at room temperature until ready to drizzle over cinnamon rolls. Before using, whisk until smooth. Enjoy the Summer!

Ingredients

Unbleached flour made of hard red spring wheat from Quebec (Niacin, reduced Iron, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Folate), sugar, baking powder (sodium bicarbonate, corn starch, monocalcium phosphate), sodium bicarbonate, salt. Cinnamon sugar: sugar, cinnamon

You Will Need
  • ¾ cups cold unsalted butter or non-dairy alternative (1½ sticks/170.5 g), cut into small cubes 
  • plus 2 tbsp more butter for greasing pan 
  • 1 ¼ cup cream or 1 cup buttermilk or milk alternative (we prefer cream!)
Fun Recipes

For a great cinnamon bun frosting glaze 

  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar, sifted 
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse salt 2 tablespoons milk or dairy alternative 
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract or other flavourings 

Blend the milk and vanilla then add in the salt and sugar. Stir well to remove lumps. Add a few drops of milk if too thick or 1-2 tbsp icing sugar if too thin. Drizzle over semi warm buns and serve immediately.

Ok, but not a cinnamon roll

These are ok, but they are by no means a cinnamon roll. It’s more like a dry muffin. I don’t understand all of the effort in folding and rolling these to have them end up in a cake like consistency. No layers. Taste is fine. None of my kids liked them and my husband and I were ok with the flavor, but not in love. I followed the directions to a T.

Easy to make, delicious to eat! I made the icing with almond extract to change up the flavor profile and it was sooooo good. But the cinnamon rolls are amazing on their own as well!
